2017 National Convention

I have revised this message to correct the dates of the tours. There can be some free time Friday afternoon and a group rate is being worked.

Looks like we can get a two hour private tour bus for $29 per person. That price would be for 30 people and tour would start at 1500 hours (3:00pm) The bus would pick us up at the hotel parking lot (The Gettysburg Tour Center shares a common parking lot with the hotel) and bus is air-conditioned. There is no restroom on the bus but there is a pit stop at the one hour point. Please contact me or Charlie Mills if you want to participate in this tour. The $29 will be collected when you register for the National Convention.

Thanks,
Mark
National Executive Secretary

Ghost Tours-Orphanage on 5/18/17 @ 8:00 PM on 05/18/2017 – $10.00
Zak Bagins of Ghost Adventures listed this building on his top 10 freakiest places in the USA.
In 2011 this tour was expanded to include time on the first floor in the area that was the dining room. You still journey down the original wooden stairs to the dingy, dark dungeon where a cruel headmistress chained the children to the stone walls. On this tour you will hear stories of the other cruel treatments she inflicted on her charges, treatments that lead to the spirits lingering throughout the building today.
As part of your adventure, your guide will take you on a short walk around the neighborhood. You will be treated to haunted tales of the Dobbin House on Steinwehr Avenue, the National Cemetery and The Hall of Presidents. The haunts behind the Orphanage are of special interest and will make you wonder if you wish to pass through the doors into the realm of the supernatural. Enter if you dare! (If tour states sold out, please call to double check as another tour may have been added).

Since the Convention Committee had less that a year to prepare for this Convention due to lack of bids for upcoming Conventions, they were limited in their negotiations and this was the rate offered. But the Gettysburg battlefield is just across the lot and most of the tours start nearby within a short walking distance. Thank you PA Squadron for stepping up and getting this Convention up and running.

Thanks,
Mark

CHAPEL OF FOUR CHAPLAINS
The Chapel of Four Chaplains program is held in memory of, and commemorating the selfless spirit of the four chaplains that perished aboard the US Army Transport Dorchester.

The Navy Club USA and Auxiliary supports the Chapel and it’s programs by nominating deserving persons for the “LEGION OF HONOR” award. The qualifications for this award are that the individual has been performing some selfless service in their community, or toward another individual, without thought of compensation or reward. The selfless service must go beyond what the individual does for a living. There are thousands of such people in every community, and this program gives us an opportunity to recognize their efforts.

Attached is information on the nominating process and nomination form. Sent completed form to:
